Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small

I have a bunch of thinking to do, some of which I'll blog. I just didn't settle at the vigil last night; what I really needed was to walk. I'll walk this afternoon, and it won't be the same, because it's a glorious sunny day and despite the sombre tone set by the Good Friday liturgy I will see new life everywhere. I can't help it, going outside in spring. Love doesn't wait until Sunday to overcome Death.

Maybe it's just as well. Maybe it's just as well I go through all of this week with that hope so strongly imprinted on me that I can't quite let it go.

I've been keeping pretty busy. Holy Week is like that.

Keeping clergy especially in my prayers this week.

Attended a wonderful family worship this morning, in a church that I do not normally attend, I just felt so tired and I felt it would not be a good idea to travel to Canterbury.

One of the Hymns was 'When I survey the Wondrous Cross'. The music was life from a group of musicians, one of whom played the flute very well indeed. The pathos of the reed instrument, really seemed to bring the music out, perhaps more than an organ might.

They then had an exercise of an empty cross, where everyone was invited to imprint their finger or thumb print on it as a form of renewal of our baptism, by pledging to follow Jesus on the cross.

Real symbolism, but one which resonated. They are in the Evangelical Tradition, but they really do appreciate the significance of inter-action. Especially with the young.

This morning brought Good Friday alive in a way different from my normal experience.

UKViewer,

Given the time of composition of "Rockingham", the tune usually used for "When I survey the wondrous Cross", having it played by a group of musicians, with no organ, is absolutely authentic!

I am looking forward to the renewal of baptismal vows tomorrow night.
